Pressing The Button
Do you suspect that you are PRESSING THE BUTTON next to the one that you really really wanna press?
You see the button you long to press is RED HOT and throbbing with excitement, aliveness, playfulness and pleasure!
It’s CALLING YOUR NAME, and you know, deep down in your lil soul toes, that if you were to press it, you would be CAPTIVATED and propelled, into so much MAGIC and WONDERMENT!
It’s the button that’s marked PAINT. WRITE. DANCE. SPEAK. EXPRESS. LIVE. LOVE. CREATE.
It’s the button that means that you STAND in FULL AUTHORITY in the CENTRE of your own sweet and sassy life.
It’s the button that you know will bring you DEEP JOY, FULFILLMENT, AND SATISFACTION.
It’s the button that leads to SILLY PLAYFULNESS, SPONTANEITY, AND OH SO MUCH PLEASURE!
And yet, as you go to press it, something happens – you end up PRESSING THE BUTTON NEXT TO IT! ☹
Why?
Why do we do that?
We want to be an artist, and yet we become the art critic instead.
We want to be a musician, and yet we only play our beloved instruments in the cosy aloneness of our bedroom and attend a trillion gigs instead.
We want to be a writer, and yet we just don’t even get started, and simply daydream our imaginal story worlds in our pretty lil heads instead.
We want to be running women’s circles, or leading workshops or events, and we just keep attending all the other fabulous workshops, circles and events instead.
We want to be offering out what we’re bloody well good at that makes a difference to the lives of others because it feels natural and in service to us, but we hide our magic under our hats and pout arrows of resentment or jealousy onto those who are doing just that!
Now, there’s nothing wrong with the alternative choices. Of course there’s not! There’s plenty of goodness and enjoyment to be had from pressing the button next to the one we really really REALLY wanna press. And some of us, subconsciously mind, are kinda getting off on being all judgy and frustrated at the world. It’s a kinda KINK that we’re used to living with. Like that spider in the bathroom. It’s tolerable. Just about. (Unless you’re like me and you LOVE spiders!)
But we know something is off. We look out in amazement at the ones who DID press the button, and just like Bette Midler’s character* at the end of the movie ‘Stella’, it’s as if we’re looking through a glass window. We’re not truly IN IT. (*With or without a headscarf, smudged mascara, and the obligatory rain!)
PRESSING THE BUTTON IS ONE MAHOOSIVE RISK. There’s no getting away from that fact. Those folk doing the thing they really really really REALLY wanna be doing, know this. But the difference is, they DIDN’T press the button next to the one they wanted to press because they knew, they had to, they needed to, they couldn’t not, dare to MISS PRESSING THE BUTTON OF THEIR DESIRE.
There’s a place between WHERE WE ARE NOW and WHERE WE WANNA GO.
It’s a crowded place. Full of the noise of the mind. RESISTANCE. FEAR. DOUBT. JUDGEMENT.
It’s a TEST. It’s where we have a CHOICE to make. It’s a place to PROCRASTINATE until the cows come home and then some!
Yeh. It’s what I call the BUBBLE OF FAUX SAFETY. Sure, it’s comfy enough. Sure, it’ll do. Sure. It’s fine. Fine.
FINE.
I don’t know about you but I didn’t COME HERE ON EARTH IN THESE POSSIBLY BONKERS APOCALYTPIC TIMES TO JUST ACCEPT A LIFE THAT I’D DESCRIBE AS ‘FINE’.
FUCK THAT SHIT!
No. I want a life that TURNS ME ON. I want a life that MAKES ME MOIST WITH ANTICIPATION. I want a life THAT I DON’T HAVE TO THINK THAT I’M SETTLING. Settling for the button next to the one I really really really REALLY wanna press.
How about you my loves? Do you think you’re PRESSING THE BUTTON WITH YOUR SOUL’S NAME ON IT? Or, are you pressing the one next to it because that’s just…fine!?
One of the most POWERFUL ways that we can integrate ALL of who we are and what we’re experiencing, ALONGSIDE absolutely PRESSING THE BUTTON that we want to press, is by learning how to BE IN ALIGNMENT.
“The Alignment Keys” is a program that shows you exactly how to do this! If you would like to know more, and book your place, then here’s some more information for you. (Next Program begins Monday 22nd May :-))
